Basic Statistics

In this course we will learn about the descriptive statistics, correlation and regression.

Descriptive Statistics

It refers to methods for summarizing the collected data. The summaries usually consist of graphs and numbers such as:

  • Measures of central tendency,
  • Mesaures of dispersion,
  • Skewness, and
  • Kurtosis

Correlation

A correlation coefficient is a symmetric, scale-invariant measure of association between two random variables. There are two types of correlation:

  • Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation, and
  • Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient

Regression

Regression analysis is a mathematical measure of the average relationship between two or more variables in terms of the original units of the data.

This course will provide you insight to understand univariate and bi-variate data.
